“Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams plays the youngest badass on the series: Arya Stark. Both Williams and Arya began their journeys in Westeros at a young age. Williams was just 12 years old when she first started her role as Arya on the HBO series.
The actress, now 20, recently shared a throwback photo to her first day on set via Instagram. You can see Williams standing in front of her trailer, marked “Arya Stark.”
Williams’ character Arya has undergone one of the most drastic changes on the series. The youngest Stark daughter was separated from her family during the tumultuous first season, and eventually became a trained assassin.
It wasn’t until the most recent seventh season of “Game of Thrones” that Arya was able to return home to Winterfell and see her living family members again. As Arya has grown up within the show, Williams has developed into one of the most compelling stars of the series.
Fans were immediately obsessed with the throwback photo, which racked up half a million likes within one hour. People love seeing the young Williams, and reflecting on her journey as an actress. She’s set to co-star in an upcoming “X-Men” spinoff movie, “The New Mutants.”
