Drug cartel leader Jose Luis Gutierrez Valencia hosted the party at a so-called maximum security prison, where inmates were seen glugging spirits with not a guard in sight
In a scene right out of the hit TV series Narcos, Mexico’s most dangerous drugs lords have been caught in secret footage hosting a boozy prison party.
Drug cartel leader Jose Luis Gutierrez Valencia – alias Don Chelo – is seen downing booze as hundreds of other guests dance with girls and feast of tacos.
He hosted the bash at the country’s so-called maximum security Punte Grande prison .
Brazen Don Chelo is among inmates seen swigging from bottles of whisky while they sing along to a traditional mariachi band.
The group – Los Buchones de Culiacan – specialise in ‘narcocorridos’, or songs about drug trafficking.

Tables and chairs are set put for guests, who later tucked into a slap up celebration meal of tacos.
Women can be seen moving freely through the crowd of hundreds of guests and some are filmed dancing with prisoners.
Many inmates are seen openly brandishing mobile phones, supposedly banned in Mexican jails.
Not a single prison guard is seen in the entire video, which emerged this week in local and Spanish media.
Drugs cartel members like Don Chelo are seen being protected by a ring of burly white shirted minders.
At one point, the drugs boss tells cheering inmates: “Here, the person who gives the orders is me. Ask whatever you want, I will give it to you.”
Chelo is a leading figure in the Jalisco Nueva Generacion, one of Mexico’s most powerful drug gangs.
The party took place in the prison of Puente Grande, in the western Mexican state of Jalisco, and was organised by Jose Luis Gutierrez Valencia, alias ‘Don Chelo’, who is the father of the girlfriend of ‘El Menchito.’
El Menchito is the son of Nemesio Osegura Cervantes, alias El Mencho, who is believed to be the leader of Jalisco Nueva Generacion cartel.
The cartel is considered the most powerful drug cartel since the lack of leadership in the Sinaloa Cartel since its leader Chapo Guzman was arrested and extradited to the United States.
Don Chelo – arrested in 2010 accused of drugs trafficking – is believed to have hosted the party in March last year.
Prison officials have come under increasing criticism for the lack of control inside Mexico’s jails, many of which are said to be run by the inmates.
In Narcos there are scenes of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar enjoying the high life when he was incarcerated in his home country.
