Utah Jazz leading scorer Gordon Hayward said he is back to full strength for Tuesday night’s first-round playoff Game 5 against the Los Angeles Clippers.
He tried to play in Sunday’s Game 4, which the Jazz won, but food poisoning forced him off the court after the first few minutes.
The former Brownsburg High School and Butler star discussed his illness Tuesday morning, saying it came from a “sandwich from a place.”
That prompted chuckles from the assembled media. He was careful not to name any particular store. He has been a Subway spokesman in Salt Lake City.
“I was definitely down for the count. I hadn’t been that sick in years,” said Hayward, adding his wife also became ill Saturday night, having eaten a similar sandwich.
Hayward said he feels strong and has had “good meals and good rest” leading up to Game 5.
